Adventure base 100, coming to the greater Chicagoland area in 2010.
• Needed: Sixty (60) volunteers
• Who: Any registered adult BSA leader from Blackhawk Area Council.
• What: Become a docent/team leader/ volunteer for eight (8) hours.
• Why: Help encourage new youth to become members of the BSA.
• When: Saturday May 1, 2010
• Where: Douglas Park, Chicago, Illinois. Boundaries: Roosevelt Rd 1200 S on the North end, California Ave 2800 W on the East side, 19th St., 1900 South on the South side, Albany St 3100 W on the West side. We will be placed somewhere inside this perimeter.
How can you help with this endeavor?
Adventure Base 100 takes place during the Cinco de Mayo festival celebrated in Chicago. Nine BSA councils are working together to bring this show to the public. As part of the national tour across the USA, one of the many stops will be in our area. There will be a 10,000-square foot arena full of opportunities for visitors to participate in Scouting type activities such as registration area, a 55-foot trailer that opens up into a stage show, a Go! Dome tent that encompasses the camping experience with simulated walking on leaves in the forest, an IMAX® mural diorama that changes as you walk through the dome, sensory activities (smell) that give you the feel of being on a camping trip, a ropes course (staffed by National BSA volunteers) a museum showing some of the history of BSA and the VIP tent.
How can you fit into this celebration?
Be a guide, greeter, supporter, registrar, recruiter, work in the ropes area, the Go! Dome, the stage or the sponsor tents.

What’s the time frame for all this help we’re asking for?
After the transportation to the site, (we’re working on the logistics of moving the group as a whole rather than taking individual vehicles), our scheduled work time is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. leaving shortly thereafter for the ride back.
